We Thank God for Mothers: A Mothers Day Prayer
Mother’s carry a piece of Heaven with them and reflect a glimpse of God’s unconditional and sacrifical love. Explore the gift of Mothers.
A Reflection of God
As we approach Mother’s Day here in the UK, I’ve been reflecting on the gift that is my mother. I was blessed with one of the best but one thing I am so grateful for is the way she prays for me and the fact that she introduced me to Jesus. The vast majority of American Christians were raised in the faith and most can point to the influence of their moms. In a 2023 study, the American Bible Society found that a majority of believers remain in the same religious tradition as their mothers and a 2019 Barna Group report found that 68% of practicing Christians cited a mother’s faith as a significant influence on their own.
I think this is because motherhood is one of the most beautiful reflections of the heart of God itself. A mother carries, nurtures, protects, comforts, and keeps loving even when no one else sees the cost. So much of a mother’s strength is quiet. It is found in the unseen sacrifices, the whispered prayers, the tears no one notices, and the faith that refuses to give up.
The Bible reminds us that love “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:7). How often do we see that in a mother’s life? Again and again, mothers stand in the gap for their children with fierce love, faithful prayer and sacrifice.
A Mother’s Prayer
One of the most moving pictures of this is the power of a mother’s prayer. We’ve heard the beautiful testimony of a mother in the United States who prayed for her son while he was sitting in a prison cell in Australia. Across the distance, across the heartbreak, across the impossibility, she kept praying. Then one day, in that prison cell, he encountered God through Christian Tv in his cell, gave his life to Jesus, and everything changed. What a miracle. What a reminder that no prison cell is too far, no heart is too hard, and no mother’s prayer is ever wasted.
A Gift From Heaven
We know that no one is perfect and not all mothers are the same. However, as I observe my sister-in-law and her immediate, unconditional love for my newly born niece who has so far not accomplished anything other than to exist, I am reminded that a Mother’s love teaches us something holy: love does not give up. Prayer does not stop at borders. Faith does not end when circumstances look dark. Like Hannah, who poured out her soul before the Lord, and like Mary, who treasured the purposes of God in her heart, mothers carry heaven into the everyday through surrender, courage, and prayer. They have the ability to love unconditionally and sacrificially for someone who can do nothing for them in return.
A Gift For Mothers
This Mother’s Day, we thank God for mothers. We honour the women who have prayed, believed, comforted, and kept loving through every season. And we celebrate the gift they are to their children and to the Kingdom of God.
Our gift to mother’s is all around the world is an app that we are working on to give them peace of mind. We are so passionate about creating a safe place for children to encounter Jesus. For every mother longing to give her child a safe harbour online, the GOD TV Kids App is a beautiful gift, a place filled with faith-building content for young hearts and minds. In a noisy digital world, it offers something precious: a space where children can grow in truth, peace, and the love of God.
This Mother’s Day, let’s thank God for praying mothers, honour their faith, and keep building the kind of world where their children can meet Jesus. To help us launch the Kids App this year, please donate here.
