What Does the Bible Say About Money?

Discover how Rev. William Givens’s message MONEY encourages believers to trust God and steward their finances wisely.

What role does money have in your heart?

It’s a question that reaches far deeper than bank accounts, bills, salaries, or possessions. Money touches so many areas of life: our security, our choices, our generosity, our fears, and even our faith. But as believers, we are not called to be ruled by money. We are called to trust God with everything He has placed in our hands.

In Rev. William Givens’s message, MONEY, he brings a timely reminder that our finances are not separate from our walk with God. The way we think about money, use money, give money, and trust God with money can reveal what we truly believe about His provision and faithfulness.

Money is a tool, not a master

“You cannot serve both God and money.” -Matthew 6:24

This does not mean money itself is evil, but it does mean money should never become the thing that leads our lives.

Money can be used for good. It can provide for families, support ministry, bless others, and help meet real needs. But when money becomes our source of identity, peace, or control, it can quietly take the place that only God should have.

A healthy relationship with money begins when we surrender it back to the Lord and recognise that everything we have ultimately belongs to Him.

Trust God as your provider

Financial pressure can easily create fear. When bills are rising, needs feel urgent, or the future feels uncertain, it can be tempting to rely only on what we can see. But Scripture reminds us that God is our provider.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His Glory in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:19

This does not mean we live carelessly or ignore wisdom. It means we invite God into our financial decisions. We pray. We plan. We give. We steward. And above all, we trust that our Heavenly Father sees what we need and knows how to care for us.

Stewardship is worship

Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”

Stewardship is not just about managing money well; it is an act of worship. When we honour God with our finances, we are saying, “Lord, You come first.” We are choosing faith over fear and obedience over self-protection.

Whether we have a little or a lot, God cares about the posture of our hearts. Faithful stewardship means using what He has given us with wisdom, gratitude, and generosity.

Generosity reflects the heart of God

2 Corinthians 9:7 reminds us that “God loves a cheerful giver.” Generosity is one of the clearest ways we reflect the heart of the Father.

God is generous. He gave us Jesus. He gives grace, mercy, provision, wisdom, strength, and daily breath. When we give, we are not simply parting with money; we are participating in God’s nature and allowing our resources to become a blessing in someone else’s life.

Generosity breaks the power of fear and reminds us that we are not owners, but stewards of what God has entrusted to us.

Rev. William Givens’s message, M O N E Y, is a powerful encouragement to examine the place money holds in our lives and invite God into our finances with fresh faith. Watch it on GOD TV here.
