Dear GOD TV Family,
Following the tragedy at Big Church Festival, our hearts and prayers remain with the family and loved ones of the precious life that was lost, with those who were injured, and with everyone who has been affected by what happened.
We are also mindful of those who witnessed the tragedy, those who responded in its immediate aftermath, the first responders and emergency services, and the many people who may still be processing what they saw and experienced.
There are moments in life for which words can feel wholly inadequate. In those moments, we believe our greatest response is not to try to explain what cannot easily be explained, but to draw near to Jesus and to one another with compassion, grace and prayer.
Scripture tells us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.
As GOD TV, our heart is to honour those most deeply affected by this tragedy and to be there for anyone who may be struggling. We exist to encourage people in their faith, to help disciple believers through media, and to continually point people towards Jesus. In times of joy and in times of profound sorrow, that calling remains the same.
If you are feeling lonely, overwhelmed, or simply feel that you would like somebody to pray with you, our prayer team is here. Our phone lines are open during our usual operating hours, and you can reach us on 0330 100 8989. Whether you would like prayer for yourself, would like us to pray for somebody affected, or simply want another believer to come into agreement with you in prayer, it would be our privilege to stand with you.
Alongside prayer, we have gathered a selection of media resources from ministries we know and trust. These teachings have been chosen to help those seeking biblical encouragement, comfort and a deeper understanding of how we can find Jesus in the midst of grief, tragedy and circumstances we may not understand. They are available below for you to watch privately, in your own time and at your own pace.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28. Our prayer is that these resources do not simply provide answers, but help lead people towards the One in whom our hope is ultimately found.
We also recognise the limits of what we can provide. GOD TV is a Christian media ministry, not a professional counselling or grief support service. If you are finding it difficult to cope with what you have experienced, particularly if you witnessed the tragedy or were directly affected by it, we would encourage you to seek appropriate professional support. Asking for that help does not diminish the place of faith or prayer. We believe God can meet us through prayer, through His Word, through His people, and through those equipped to care for people experiencing grief and trauma.
With love and prayer,
Ian Young
