International Economist and Banking Expert, Richard Werner is a professor at the University of Southampton. A graduate of the London School of Economics with a doctorate in economics from the University of Oxford, he also has experience as fund manager and investment strategist, and has served on corporate boards. Professor Werner is introducing not-for-profit community banks into the UK and hosts the European Conference on Banking and the Economy (ECOBATE). He is a best-selling author (his book ‘Princes of the Yen’ beat Harry Potter for six weeks in Japan) and has co-written ‘Where Does Money Come from?’ He has been recognised as a ‘Global Leader for Tomorrow’. He is backing scientific education through the Association for Research on Banking and the Economy (ARBE.org.uk), a registered charity.
