Derek is married to Hilary. They married in 1987 after meeting in church, and soon after they attended Bible school in the USA for 3 years. They returned to the UK in 1991 and pioneered Oxford Bible Church, which started with a handful of people meeting in their lounge. The church has since grown to 250 people.
