Jerusalem prayer event LIVE on GOD TV this weekend

Media Release: OCTOBER 1, 2009

200,000 churches in 175 nations to take part in the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem

Millions of Christians will unite across the globe this Sunday, October 4th, for the sixth annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and GOD TV will broadcast the main event LIVE from the Holy City to the nations of the world at 10.00 (EST).

Founded by Jack Hayford and Robert Stearns, the global prayer gathering is an urgent call to intercede for God’s purposes to come to pass in His Holy City in accordance with Psalm 122:6 - “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you.”

To date over a thousand Christian leaders have endorsed the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem including T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland and many others. Prayer events will take place in 200,000 churches in 175 countries including the nation of Israel.

Hosted by Robert Stearns, GOD TV’s exclusive LIVE broadcast from the International Convention Centre in Jerusalem will feature prominent Christian leaders such as Dr Hayford, who is the president of the Foursquare International Church.

The Israeli Minister of National Infrastructure, Uzi Landau and Deputy Foreign Minister, Danny Ayalon will also participate, as well as Member of the Knesset (MK) Dudu Rotem, who is the Chairman of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus.

Jerusalem’s recently elected mayor, Nir Barkat will deliver the keynote address and prayers will be led by Christian and Jewish leaders including Rabbi Shlomo Riskin of Efrat and Arab Pastor Naim Khoury of Bethlehem.

“As the Bible declared it would, Jerusalem has become a cup of controversy on the global stage,” said Rev Stearns who heads up Eagles Wings Ministries. “We believe that God’s peace plan is one of love for all peoples of the Middle East, and we are calling on the God of love and peace for His solution to Jerusalem’s quandary.

“At the root, the unrest in the Middle East is a spiritual problem requiring a spiritual answer. That’s why God continues to stir energy for prayer in the hearts of thousands of Christians, from Latin America to Asia to all over Europe and Africa, on behalf of Jerusalem and all its inhabitants, Jew and Arab alike.”

Held annually on the first Sunday in October, this is the fourth consecutive year GOD TV will be broadcasting the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.

“We as Christians have a spiritual heritage and responsibility to pray for the city over which Jesus wept, the city to which He will soon return,” said GOD TV founders Rory & Wendy Alec. “The crisis over Jerusalem has global ramifications, and will only be fully resolved by God working through the prayers of His people.

“As the only Christian television network to broadcast from Jerusalem, we at GOD TV are committed to praying for peace and reconciliation in the region.”

GOD TV can be watched on channel 365 of DIRECTV from coast to coast as well as on select local cable stations in US cities including San Francisco. Online viewers can watch LIVE at www.god.tv/live or on demand at www.god.tv/video.
