The GOD Channel is the first Christian Channel on mobile phones in India

CHENNAI, INDIA – GOD TV announced today that it successfully launched on the Mobile TV platform across India last Friday, providing a unique line-up of revolutionary Christian Programming to 2 million mobile phone users.

The October 1st launch also marks GOD TV’s 15th Anniversary since its inception in the broadcasting world catering to over 200 nations and 160 million connected homes around the globe.

The network offers a fresh approach to Christian television, featuring LIVE footage from must-see Christian events, conferences, and music festivals as well as cutting-edge programming from leading ministries. GOD TV is also the only Christian channel to broadcast from Jerusalem.

The total mobile subscriber base in India is 550 million, which is second only to China in the world. Half of the subscriber base is young people and in 2011, India will have one-fifth of the world’s mobile youth base.

GOD TV’s debut on the Mobile TV benefits people on the move and especially the youth who are tech savvy and gadget gurus. It’s the first Christian Channel in India to be available on mobile and is made possible by an agreement with Apalya Technologies, India's leading distribution platform in mobile video delivery.

Apalya Technologies delivers content from over 40 media channels through almost all of India's mobile operator's platforms. The GOD Channel can be watched through a simple GPRS application on any mobile platform. Using a proprietary technology called progressive play. Mobile phone users can now watch their favourite Christian programmes on their mobiles. The GOD Channel is also now available on Tata Photon Data Card where post-paid users can watch LIVE television on their mobile or desktop or laptop.
