Press Release
GOD TV FOCUSES ON THE MIDDLE EAST
Media Release: JUNE 7, 2011
GOD TV focuses on the Middle East this week with a series of daily broadcasts aimed at increasing the global Christian network’s outreach into Arab lands; praying for the nations of the region and supporting beleaguered Christians in Iraq.
Hosted by GOD TV Co-founder and CEO, Rory Alec, the GOD TV Middle East Special will be aired LIVE from Jerusalem daily from Thursday June 9th through Sunday June 12th at 8am (Eastern) and will include various special guests.
The GOD TV Middle East Special will highlight GOD TV’s extensive outreach throughout the region and look at ways it can do more. The network’s global transmission center is located in central Jerusalem and GOD TV has plans to build new production studios at its Broadcast HQ as well as produce more programs in Israel.
“2011 has seen huge turmoil across the Middle East, so many innocent lives have been lost, and our hearts go out to all those who are hurting,” said Rory Alec. “We know God is calling us to have a greater impact in this region and we’ll be presenting plans to expand our outreach from Jerusalem and asking our viewers to help us achieve this.”
The GOD TV family will also be praying for the people of the Middle East and extending a hand of compassion by giving a portion of the funds raised through the broadcasts to the persecuted congregation of St Georges Church in Baghdad, Iraq.
GOD TV regularly supports these Iraqi believers who are making a bold stand for Christ, and Rory Alec led a GOD TV team to Iraq in May to bring viewers an update on how they are making a difference in people’s lives in this war-torn country.
St Georges is led by Canon Andrew White, who is affectionately known as the ‘Vicar of Baghdad’, and who has often featured on the GOD Channel. Canon White is also the President of the Foundation for Relief & Reconciliation in the Middle East and he will be sharing about his extraordinary work in the region.
“We have a deep passion to see God move throughout the Middle East,” said GOD TV Co-founder and Director of Television, Wendy Alec. “God weeps for the people of this region and our hearts are filled with compassion for the Arab people. The Church of the Middle East is yet to arise and we want to see God’s presence come into more Arab homes through media. We want to see God’s heart for the Middle East revealed!”
GOD TV is committed to rallying Christians to fulfill the Great Commission to ‘Go into All the World’ and often features mass prayer events such as the US National Day of Prayer. The network will also broadcast the main event of the Global Day of Prayer LIVE from Jacksonville, FL this Saturday, June 11 at 17.30 (Eastern).
The GOD Channel can be viewed all across the USA on channel 365 of DIRECTV as well as on select local cable stations in certain cities. Online viewers can watch at www.god.tv/live or at www.god.tv/video where many of GOD TV’s programs are available for video on demand viewing.
