GOD TV Impacts Lives in the Sikh Community
GOD TV, through our partners, is making a difference both physically and spiritually in one of the driest parts of Asia.
Unlike Southern India, where Christianity is more widespread, the North of India has been spiritually dry up until now. But thanks to the work of many missionaries and their organisations, the labor of past years is starting to bear fruit and a rich harvest is at hand. GOD TV is privileged to contribute to this by playing an effective role as media missionaries, with a divine mandate to reach the lost and equip the Church through television.
GOD TV's Regional Director for Asia, Thomas Robinson recently visited Amritsar, Kappurthala, Jodhpur, Delhi and Chandigarh to see what kind of an impact the GOD Channel is making in these northern cities. Little did he know what amazing stories he and his TV crew would come across, of how lives are being touched by the love of Jesus in Northern India.
"It was amazing to meet with some of our partners and film reports of how people from the Sikh community who have been seeking the Lord have found Jesus," said Thomas Robinson. "We were privileged to broadcast some of these testimonies during Missions Week, as for many people in this area, the GOD Channel is a spiritual booster which builds their faith as they hear the Word of God preached and see people being healed."
According to Harpreet Singh from Amritsar, Punjab the GOD Channel inspires him and he encourages others to share in GOD TV's life changing programmes. "Those who do not have peace, who do not know the Lord, or who are facing problems should watch the GOD Channel and receive a message of deliverance and peace."
The GOD TV team also had the opportunity to visit "Open Door Church" pastored by Harbhajan Singh - in Kappurthala, Punjab - where many former Sikh believers gather to worship Jesus. Here one of the Church leaders shared the extraordinary story of how he came to know the Lord.
"I was a Sikh student activist and was furious to hear how many people from my community were now following Jesus. I came here to burn this church down... but, when I heard the sermon, I was so touched by the love of Jesus that I gave my life to Him and instead of harming the people here, I became a member!"
The team also heard from Kenneth Kawal in Chandigarh about how he and his family have been blessed by GOD TV. His son Immanuel says, "We were nominal Christians and never used to go to church, but since we started watching the GOD Channel, the Lord spoke to us as a family about the vital responsibility of being part of a church. Since then our lives have changed and we have experienced miracles and healings for ourselves."
Another amazing testimony was the story of a woman by the name of Edith in Delhi, whose husband was a Sikh. She shared about how they watched the GOD Channel together and read the Bible. Her husband, Surrender, also related how he had come to know the Lord..."I am very touched by GOD TV" he says, "I have come to know Jesus and enjoy reading the Bible which teaches forgiveness, love, tolerance and patience and the way we relate to each other has changed."
It is overwhelming to hear what the Lord is doing in India, the people in this great nation are very loving, family-oriented and have a respect for God. They are spiritual by nature and this is reason enough to tell them about the true God and show them the way to eternal life in Jesus.
Faced with the major challenges of the language barriers in India, the GOD TV team in Asia is believing the Lord to open the doors for GOD TV to introduce Hindi subtitling to our programmes, thus increasing the effectiveness of our outreach in North India. Please uphold us in your prayers that we will be able to accomplish this and that the Lord would provide the necessary finances to make this possible.
