Founded in the UK in 1995 by Christian media pioneers, Rory & Wendy Alec, GOD TV has rapidly expanded over the past 16 years, defying huge obstacles, to reach the globe with life-changing Christian programming.

The miraculous story of how the Alecs challenged the UK’s broadcast restrictions and overcame many barriers to establish Europe’s first daily Christian Network is told in the book ‘Against All Odds’ by Wendy Alec.

Today GOD TV continues to break new ground worldwide. The GOD Channel now reaches well over half a billion people in over 200 nations and territories, and the network has offices in the USA, UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Africa, Asia, and Australasia.

When Rory & Wendy Alec arrived in the UK from South Africa in 1991, Christian broadcasting wasn’t yet legal in the UK and there was little likelihood of this changing. But, God had a plan to redeem the airwaves and He was going to use this young couple to launch Christian television into Europe.

In 1994, Malaysian prophet, Jonathan David confirmed the call of God upon Rory & Wendy’s lives, prophesying they would birth a miraculous network that would reach the unreached and impact the Church. It seemed impossible as the Alecs had limited resources and no financial backing, but in 1995 they signed a landmark contract with the SKY satellite platform and the Christian Channel Europe was born, broadcasting three hours each morning.

From humble beginnings around a kitchen table in London, the fledgling network moved to shared studios in Kent and $250,000 was raised to finance the development of Christian television in Europe via a ‘Eurothon’ in the USA. The Christian Channel Europe was dedicated to God on 24 April 1996.

Then, in 1997, Rory & Wendy moved to the North East of England where the Lord had provided 16,000 square feet of studios. On 1 October 1997, the channel became known as the GOD Channel, a revolutionary approach, breaking down religious barriers and political correctness. Programming increased to seven hours a day and in 1999 to 24 hours a day across Europe.

In 2002, the Alecs made the dramatic announcement that GOD TV was to move its broadcast headquarters to Israel - a strategic move that literally opened up the world to GOD TV. In 2002 the GOD Channel was launched into Africa, where several broadcast towers have since been built. Also in 2002, GOD TV became available in India where about 20 million cable homes can access the GOD Channel.

In 2004 GOD TV become the first Western Christian broadcaster in Hong Kong and in 2005 the GOD Channel began broadcasting in Australasia. Then, in a major breakthrough in 2006, the network launched into the USA, making its debut on America’s largest satellite platform, DIRECTV. In 2007 the GOD Channel became available to another million homes in the UK through Virgin Media and was launched into 3 million homes in Pakistan.

In 2009 GOD TV topped 20 million homes in the USA, by launching on several cable outlets and in 2010 GOD TV has seen the addition of a million homes in Kenya; and a further million homes on Freesat in the UK.

Over the past 16 years, the response of viewers has been overwhelming as more and more people worldwide have embraced the GOD Channel as a fresh alternative to traditional Christian broadcasting. The GOD TV story continues day by day, as its visionary pioneers continue to break further ground, producing more cutting-edge programming and taking advantage of new distribution opportunities.
